So I wish I grew up with the ease of access to information we have nowadays. I’m interested in learning Python so I DLed and installed Python 3.12.0 today. Looking for a good starter/refresher course I stumbled onto https://www.py4e.com/.
I’m the sort who doesn’t describe myself as a coder let alone a programmer but I also consider myself the sort who knows enough to be dangerous as I did have some education way back in procedural BASIC. I can follow code much better than create it. I am the sort who has always read and tweaked a code page versus staring with my own blank screen. I understand concepts like variables and loops and can follow quite a bit. I sort of understand the concept of object oriented if not the nomenclature.
Anyway I want to code like I want to play guitar… impromptu at times with little patience for actual practice. At least I own a PC and phone, unlike guitar. So having such tools to use with coding I want to be able to cobble and slip the matchbook under the proverbial table leg to steady it. I am not looking to be a “programmer.” I am interested in the link between my phone, my PC, and me and seeing what I can do with automating and streamlining the things I do with each.
Like I once wanted to learn PERL Python is newer and I believe more structured and simpler to learn… Idk really. Both have lots of online resources but Python seems more widespread and common, which is why I am focusing on it for coding. Besides coding skills I want to bone up on my WordPress acumen. I use it and run it even on this site but I would not claim to know it in the full sense of groking it yet.
This site was down for some WordPress error for the better part of two months until I read how to reset my plugins… So I’m back to it. Hello World!
